Moving from Birmingham to Perth had it's challenges...So I made a blog to document what I learnt.

A luxury South West resort has taken out multiple awards at the 2024 Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards, including an induction into the hall of fame.

Pullman Bunker Bay resort went home with two golds at the award ceremony in Perth on November 9.

It was awarded gold in the five-star luxury category, beating out Parmelia Hilton Perth and Fraser Suites Perth, and topped the business event venues award, beating out the Perth Convention Centre and the Esplanade Hotel Fremantle.

It was also a surprise entrant in this year’s hall of fame.

Pullman Bunker Bay Resort general manager Raelene Ohlson said winning the awards over major Perth companies was a win for the South West as a whole.

“We were up against WA’s very best tourism professionals, so it was a honour to take out both awards. The prestigious hall of fame acknowledgement was an unexpected delight,” she said.

“It is testament to the dedication of our team and the unique guest experience we offer in the spellbinding surroundings of the Margaret River region.”

The resort recently achieved a sustainable tourism certification through EcoTourism Australia.

Ms Ohlson said staff had been busy modernising the establishment to environmental standards which had elevated the venue.

“Our team of staff have really shone in 2024, implementing new environmental initiatives, completing advanced training and inspiring outstanding reviews from guests,” she said.

The wins mean Pullman Bunker Bay Resort will represent WA on the national stage at the upcoming Australian Tourism Awards in Adelaide.

Award winners will be announced on March 21.
