Father Peter Sponza identified as pedestrian hit and killed by car in Bayswater, Perth

Moving from Birmingham to Perth had it's challenges...So I made a blog to document what I learnt.

A father allegedly murdered during a violent rampage in Perth on Tuesday has been remembered as a “true gentleman” whose world “revolved around his kids”.

Peter Sponza, 52, was working on the new Bayswater station when he was struck by a car shortly after 11am on Tuesday.

Police gave first aid to the critically injured man before he was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital where he died.

Colleagues at TNE Civil described Sponza as “generous, kind and caring”.

He had been with the company for a year and was “excellent at what he did and so committed to his work”.

“He looked after everyone on his crew and we all knew it would be a good day if we got to work along side of him,” the statement said.

“Nothing was ever a hassle for him and he would stop everything he was doing just to help someone else out.”

His workmates said Sponza was a “family man”.

“His whole world revolved around his kids,” they said.

A 29-year-old man from WA’s Great Southern Region has been charged with murder, aggravated assault, reckless driving, being armed in a way that may cause fear and criminal damage or destruction.

A GoFundMe has been set up to support Sponza’s family.

“This does not bring Pete back but it gives his children a start in life,” the campaign organiser said.
