Carramar,
can be found approx 28km north of Perth CBD just to the
east of Wanneroo Rd.
Situated a 10 minute drive from the ocean, at Burns
Beach, Carramar has grown to
cover an area of 14km2 in less than 10 years and is
still growing at a fast pace with lots of building work
in progress and vast areas cleared for future building.
It's just under 10 minutes drive from
Joondalup town centre with
its large shopping complex and railway station
The majority of homes in Carramar are
single storey with the older part benefiting from
established gardens. The
occasional 2 storey home is appearing now in the newer
parts of the suburb where block sizes are smaller.
Carramar
public primary school (governement funded) opened
in Feb 2005 and there is also St Stephens
private school, which caters
for pre primary to yr12. St Stephens is a very popular
school and it’s not unusual to find that families have
moved to the area just to get their children into the
school. There is also a day care centre in
Carramar.
The suburb is adjacent to
Carramar public golf course,
with a number of homes overlooking the fairways and
greens. Playing off the championship tees it is renowned
as one of the toughest courses in
Perth,
carved through native bushland
you get plenty of opportunity to see kangaroos and wild
birds. Fees start from $17.00 for 18 holes and if you
are just visiting on holiday don’t worry about taking
your own clubs as these can be hired too.
Carramar
is a very popular suburb with both British and South
African migrants despite its lack of local
infrastructure. You will find parks for the younger
children and provision has been made for the building of
a community centre, for everything else, including
shopping and entertainment you will need to travel to
Joondalup, which may be
something to bear in mind if you have teenage children.
