Brighton Estate in Butler is in the northern suburbs of Perth, some
37km from the centre. It is a new community, with most houses less
than two years old. The centre point of the suburb is the lakes and
parks, with a tennis court, cafe, barbeques and large kids
playground. Regular (free) community events are also hosted there
(concerts, galas, open-air cinema etc.). You'll find many children's parks
dotted throughout the suburb, with most houses only a 2 minute walk
from a selection of them. It is a very child-friendly suburb where
you'll always find kids out playing in the streets and parks.
Brighton Estate was recently voted Australia's most successful
suburb, with every house
having cable TV (it gives a couple of free extra channels, such as
BBC World News) and an internet broadband connection. The cable
company has just started offering super-high speed broadband
services (8x faster than normal broadband) to all Brighton
residents.
A
retail development is planned, due for completion in
2006, which will have a tavern, supermarket and lots of speciality
shops.
Currently Butler has one public (government funded) primary school and one private
middle/high school (Irene McCormack Catholic College). Land has been
set aside for the construction of a public high school sometime in
the future. Currently the nearest public high schools are Clarkson
(10 min drive) and Mindarie Senior College (10 min drive). Another
private primary/high school is Peter Moyes Anglican College in
Mindarie (10 min away).
