Relocation Assistance?
Moving to a new country is a stressful, worrying time. Within the space of a few weeks, you'll need to:
- Find school(s) for the children.
- Find a house to buy or rent
- Buy at least one car.
- Find work.
- ...All whilst trying to fend-off the many sharks trying to rip-off unprepared newcomers.
Perth is a great place to live, but so much pressure in such a short time can rush you into decisions that you may later regret.
Our own migrant experience, and those of others, prompted us to start this site. Since starting it, we've been shocked by some of the things that we've heard. Also, remember, advice from family and friends will be biased towards how THEY want to live their lives - not necessarily how YOU want to live.
There are Relocation Companies more than happy to provide advice and assistance (for a fee of course). However, we have found that almost all migrants manage fine without any professional Relocation Assistance, particularly given the amount of free infomation available on the internet.
Our advice: do your research well in advance on websites like this one. Contact people who are here already (using Forums and the like) to get a feel for the common pitfalls.
